A Line of Sight reported in March on the Democrat's attempts to grow government at both the federal level and here in Colorado. Despite campaign promises to not raise taxes and to hold the line on spending, evidence proves that promises made will not necessarily be promises kept. In Washington, the House of Representatives has now passed the Democrat's budget of nearly $3 trillion that does nothing to address entitlement reform and promises the biggest tax increase in history.
One of the most knowledgeable members of the House regarding the federal budget is Congressman Jeb Hensarling, a Republican from Texas' fifth district [read his biography here]. Hensarling was a long-time trusted aide to Senator Phil Gramm and like Gramm, he has made the budget and fiscal constraint his signature issue in Congress. The National Taxpayers Union has recognized Hensarling for having the second most conservative voting record in the House on tax and spending policies, and the American Conservative Union has recognized him two years in a row for having a 100% voting record.
Although he is only in his third term, Hensarling has been recognized as one of the bright stars in the House. He is a frequent Republican spokesman to the national media and his leadership and passion has been recognized by his peers with his election as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee.
A Line of Sight is honored to have Congressman Hensarling as a guest editorialist to explain the failings of the Pelosi-led Democrat's recently passed budget.
